I won hair transplant in SF in 1989 on Alex Bennett show; never did it

I entered a contest where you had to tell him why you deserved to win basically a toupee, but with hair inserts or something. I was in my 20s and lost my hair at 22. My letter had a lot of funny examples of how people treated me as much older than I was (always won a prize at the "guess your age” booth at carnivals, people thought I was my mom's husband, etc.). So I won, and it was like a $5,000 hair transplant, not chump change esp. in 1989. I thought about it, and decided I didn't like trying to look like something I wasn't. It felt dishonest. And I lived alone ever after.

Just kidding. I started shaving my head, and 10 years later, my look became in!
